Stepping Stones is a non-profit volunteering organization dedicated to improve the education and general welfare of disadvantaged children in China. Established in 2006 and registered in Shanghai, Stepping Stones offers English educational programs, digital literacy as well as eye health programs in Shanghai and rural China. Volunteers taught English to migrant and left-behind children at schools and community centers, as well as online through the videolink platform. Trainers offer professional training and capacity building to English teachers at migrant and rural schools as well as computer skills and life skills to migrant teenagers in Zhejiang province.Each week, 300 Stepping Stones volunteers deliver free English lessons to over 5,000 disadvantaged children at more than 30 project sites. By the end of 2016, its I Care Project has screened 21,896 migrant children in Shanghai, provided 3,503 pairs of spectacles and 26 eye operations.
